A Healthy Foundation
At Modern Dental Health, we believe a healthy foundation of oral health can prevent a multitude of problems that require extensive treatments. Preventive dental care requires both your participation and the efforts of your Modern Dental Health dentist. We strive to educate all patients on proper oral hygiene at home, which can go a long way in preventing tooth decay and gum disease. Good care of your teeth and gums at home, however, does not preclude seeing your every six months for a dental checkup and professional cleaning. Preventive care from your Modern Dental Health general dentist ensures that your teeth and gums are clean and inhospitable to plaque and bacteria, and, if problems do develop, we will catch them early enough that they can be treated conservatively.
Preventive Measures for Oral Health
Your six-month checkup includes your dentist checking your mouth for signs of tooth decay, periodontal disease, tooth wear, or TMJ dysfunction. Your general dentist also checks for oral cancer using the OCSARA™ protocol and Oral CDX. Patients who are more prone to cavities may receive fluoride treatments or dental sealants, and those who engage in sports or other physical activities may be fitted with a sport mouthguard to protect their teeth and soft tissues of the mouth from injury.
